We have been slowing seeing the rise of the graphic shirt invading the runways. Now, the t-shirt is a hot item and a comfortable alternative for your street style.
From Dolce & Gabbana's bold logo t-shirt to Gucci’s more subdued logo t-shirt we are seeing designers style the relaxed fitted t-shirt with feminine accessories and clothing. During the recent fashion week in NY we saw many celebrities wearing the designer’s logo shirts to the runway shows. I loved how Kate Bosworth wore a Calvin Klien logo shirt to his fall 2017 show this New York fashion week. Kate admitted that she made the shirt herself which is great but beware of designer and copy infringement if you all try this (celebrities can get away with it, it seems like).
What I love about the t-shirt style is not only is it comfortable but it can look incredibility stylish. Now many of you maybe wondering if this trend is only weekend worthy, I mean how can I wear a t-shirt to the office or in the evening?
The key is all in the styling!
For a trendy street look I love to half tuck my t-shirt and pair it with a bold belt. Another great way to style a t-shirt for the office is to have a men-wears blazer on top and then to add touches of femininity like tossing on a few brooches.
I love to take a classic logo shirt like Gucci or Dolce & Gabbana and style it with tons of pearl necklaces. It has a relaxed yet elegant vibe that can easily transition from day to a fun night out.
Things to take away
Contrast: The t-shirt can have a masculine vibe so remember to contrast the masculinity with feminine touches like fitted skirts, bold jewelry, and classic heels. Even do a beaded pant suit and matching suit coat with the t-shirt.
Boyfriend fit: The designer shirts we are seeing are not tight fitting, they have a relaxed mens/ boyfriend fit which I think is more becoming and refined. So don’t buy super fitted t-shirts, it is meant to be a relaxed fit which is a great fit to pair with a belt (a tight t-shirt and a bold belt screams early 90’s so keep it relaxed).
