1. Coconut oil for a glowing skin mask
The cool fall and harsh winter air is coming and with that our skin takes a beating. One thing I love to use to refresh and rehydrate my skin is coconut oil. Wash your face and use a toner if you'd like. Then take a small spoon of coconut oil (a little goes a long way) and gently rub the oil onto your skin. I like to rub a little extra on all my dry spots. Let the mask sit on for 30 minutes to an hour, then I like to take a dry cloth and gentle wipe off the extra and later rinse with water to remove any extra also. It leaves your skin with a beautiful glow.
Keep in mind, to do this treatment at night and not to go outside right after. Coconut oil is oil and oil and sun can cause damage. So save this for the evening and by morning you will be good as new with a fresh glow and hydrated skin.
2. Egg yolk mask for your hair
A hair mask is an item I rarely purchase and that's because we usually have all the items we need to make our own fabulous and fresh mask (and you can save a ton of money). I have a lot of homemade mask recipes but this is one of my tops, the egg yolk mask. Separate one egg and place the yolk in a bowl, add 3 tablespoons of your favorite hair conditioner, a spoon of oilve oil and if you like you can add essential oils like lavender (or whatever scent you prefer). Mix the ingredients and then rub into your hair. Let the mask sit on your hair for 30 minutes and then wash out.
The benefits of the yolk mask are to help restore moisture to dry hair and strengthen damaged ends.
3. Coffee scrub
This is one of my favorites! The caffeine in coffee is great to help fight cellulite and tighten skin. Take half a cup of ground coffee add 2 tablespoons of warm water, 3 tablespoons of honey and that's all you need. Mix together and scrub away then rinse. This is best done when you're in the shower because it can be very messy.
I hope you all enjoy these home remedies as much as I do!
